Trendiction exhibiting on the FIBEP conference

Social Media Workshop in BrusselsLast week took place a special seminar on Social Media organized by FIBEP in Brussels. FIBEP is the head organization of media monitoring companies in Europe and offers to its members workshops, representation and networking possibilities.

The day-long conference addressed the issues and opportunities for media monitoring companies in relation to social media. Topics covered included key metrics in social media, social media tool selection and social media data collection through own crawling or outsourcing.

Many media monitoring companies from Denmark to Slovenia and Turkey were present at the event.

For Trendiction, it was great to catch up with our clients and prospects, and we took the opportunity to introduce our newly developed Social Stream : on top of online news and blogs, our clients can now also outsource their social data crawling and collection process of European and international message boards to us.

The evening then was spent in the very impressive “Belga Queen” Restaurant in the city center, where we enjoyed a perfect dinner in a trendy setting. A discovery even for nearby Luxembourgers!

Fibep Social Media Workshop in BrusselsThank you to Joachim von Beust and to Isabelle Grisse for the great event and perfect organization.

And, we look forward to the big next conference of FIBEP in October 2012 !

New Release: Message board stream for easy integration into your social media monitoring tools

We finally did it. On top of our existing online news crawlers and blog crawlers, we have successfully released our brand new forum/message board crawlers . We offer thus the whole Geman Social Web through one Trendiction Social Stream API. Forums / Message Boards are often referred to as the “Oldies” in the social media environment. However, still in the age of Twitter, Facebook and Google+, we often observe the publication of the most  useful information in threads and posts in forums and message boards. This includes feedback, opinions, criticisms, feature requests or problems that users experience when consuming different products. Due to this very meaningful information published in forums, they are one of the most important and relevant sources  for most of the social media studies and social media monitoring tools in Europe. The most active areas are technology, automotive, insurance, leisure wear and gaming forums.

As we noticed in the past  that many of our customers faced significant problems (extraction, scaling,…) in gathering high-quality data and metadata out of message boards, we developed our crawling technology to offer a simple way to find and integrate message board data in the social media monitoring solutions of our customers (social media monitoring tool providers, media monitoring companies, market research institutes, agencies, various web applications, …)

Our offering:

  • More than 2000 (soon 3000 :-) )  forums for the DACH area (Germany, Austria, Switzerland).
  • More than 300 000 records per day
  • Automated addition of customer lists within 48 hours (42 languages are supported)
  • Automated extraction, calculation and delivery of metadata (author, publication date, thread linking information, title, text…)
  • full integration of message board feed possible into your social media monitoring tools

If you are interested in integrating a structured and annotated message board feed into your media monitoring solution, feel free in contacting us at contact@trendiction.com.

First impressions from the AMEC 2011 in Lisbon

We want to share with you first impressions from our stand at the 3rd European AMEC (The International Association for the Measurement and Evaluation of Communication) summit in Lisbon. We are now in the end of day two and we can say that it was a full success: interesting presentations on “defining influence and engagement” through possibilities of measuring the success of traditional online media and social media compared to offline media. Furthermore an event with many many industry experts. At our stand we are/were showcasing the Trendiction Social Stream, which offers media monitoring companies an attractive and easy way to outsource the entire Online News and Social Media (Blog, Forums, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube) Data Collection in the various european languages.

Hello World of News, Blog and Board Crawling!

On multiple customer and prospect requests, we decided to launch our English blog where we will share information about our company, share knowledge and best practices, as well as contribute to discussions related to social media crawling, online data collection, content extraction, finding influent information on the web, as well as various text analytics topics.

As we are active in the field of “Making masses of data usable”, which is a very innovative and fast-moving market, we are convinced that it is important to be open and transparent. Openness is required in order to constantly discover new use cases we did not even think of, beyond our traditional business domains. Transparency is needed in order to push innovation and let our customers, partners, prospects and all other stakeholders help us in constantly improving our crawling technology and our offering.

Let me introduce you to our activity:

We are a social media crawling company collecting and handling millions of social media articles per day. We offer media monitoring companies as well as market research institutes an attractive possibility to outsource the high-quality data collection of European social media data. Since 2008 we have focused on building a scalable crawling technology for collecting all data of the various social media source types available online (Blogs, Online News, Comments, Message Boards). At the moment we are collecting more than 2 million articles per day and have big plans for the future, with one goal in mind: Offer to our customers the whole “European Social Web as one Interface”

Contributors of this blog will be Christophe Folschette (Sales Director Trendiction) and Robert Glaesener (CEO Trendiction)
